THE AUTHORITATIVE EDITION of the complete Fables , FIRST EDITION of vols. 3-5, third edition of vols. 1-2, first issue, with the engraved arms of the Dauphin on title and the other points called for by Rochambeau, vol. 3-5 in the corrected state, with the cancels listed by Rochambeau, vol. 5 the first of three 1694 editions, with the pp. 186 and 176 paginated twice; each fable with an engraved vignette by François Chauveau or Nicolas Guérard woodcut head- and tail-pieces and ornamental initials. The only edition printed under La Fontaine's direction, containing numerous substantive corrections (cf. Rochambeau 5 for the uncorrected state of vols. 3-5) .
